I went to my fav design bookstore today to look at the latest mags and books after lunch w my relatives. Gotta love Basheer. It’s owned by an Indian family and they carry books from all over the world. Kinda like a one-stop shop for me since it has both design and archi resources. Bought [...]

I feel like a tourist everytime I go home. There’s always something new to do/eat/see/play/being built. Everything’s constantly being updated or upgraded as the govt likes to put it. People taking night classes, upgrading of homes, vehicles, etc. And then there’s the construction of new buildings and resorts.
I’ve got 2 friends from the States visiting [...]

“moving home. my mum commanded me home. haha.”
I thought that was a pretty funny response from a friend who’s moving back to S’pore fr Aussie land. I’m about to move home soon, for good reasons. And no, I didn’t get fired nor did my mom command me to move home. It’s not uncommon for us [...]

Singapore’s ‘carrot cake’ is featured in the May issue of Gourmet magazine. Interesting eh? I got my copy in the mail today and was flipping through it. There was a photograph of a Malay/Halal stall in Geylang Serai with a few Muslim men in the foreground. It says that Singapore is famous for it’s street [...]

Mozart’s sonata in C brought me back to my piano playing days. It has been so so so long since I’d played that piece. I stopped playing the piano after I came over to the US. Started off as a piano minor and then switched because I had to relearn music theory in American terms. [...]

I was flipping through yesterday’s WSJ at the breakfast table this morning when this article caught my eye. It was about Singapore Airlines awarding its $60m advertising account to TBWA instead of Batey Ads. I also found out the Batey Ads (Ian Batey) was the one who so successfully created the SIA girl image & [...]

A group of us Singaporeans went out to dinner tonight to celebrate Janice’s bday. We all had a great time hanging out. We reminisced about our primary school days, chinese poems and literature, and the best part: chinese songs. It was such a big joke because most Singaporean kids who study abroad are those who [...]
